About the role

We are looking for a CNC Operator for our Spence Doors business based in Cheltenham Vic.  The CNC Operator will be critical in prioritising and executing work in order to achieve hourly and daily targets. The scope of the role extends to responsibility for reading and interpreting design drawings, programming the various CNC machines, and adjusting and maintaining the machine and settings.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate the CNC machines to perform required tasks such as routing, profiling, folding, cutting etc.
• Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading customer drawings, mechanical drawings etc.
• Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
• Resolve any discrepancies with project specific shop drawings to ensure that all products are fit for purpose.
• Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate any numbers of parts.
• Monitor the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
• Create and implement routine maintenance checklists and perform basic troubleshooting when required.
• Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
• Maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
• Maintain a “Duty of Care” in relation to Workplace Health & Safety and Environment. Ensure that procedures are followed, guarding is in place and that any unsafe work practices are actioned and reported to Management.

Key Position Criteria

• Proven experience as CNC operator in a manufacturing environment (ideally building industry products - wood and metal).
• Demonstrated skills in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
• Exposure to Biesse Works/Solid will be advantageous
• The ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• strong understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
• Mechanical aptitude and good analytical skills.
• The ability to multi-task and well-developed problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good team player with integrity, interpersonal, organization and time management skills.
• Work well under pressure and able to work independently.
• Relevant Trade; certificate or diploma in engineering or equivariant
