Cash Application Specialist - remote

What you would do as our Cash Application Specialist

You will accurately receive and apply payment remittances from our North American and Canadian business partners for products and services. The ideal candidate has experience working successfully in a fast-paced, remote environment and is comfortable working with lockbox and banking information, as well as interpreting remittance data for electronic payments such as wire, bank transfers (ACH), and credit card transactions. Additionally, this position requires detailed knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance rules and guidelines and the ability to demonstrate that understanding through day-to-day work. Experience applying cash application best practices that drive efficiency and productivity is essential.

 

You would also:

  • Use online banking applications (US, Canada, etc.) to view, research, and apply incoming lockbox receipts by receipt number, customer name, and other search criteria and review, research and validate cash and credit transactions in Microsoft Dynamics AX and SAP. 
  • Accurately apply receipts at the invoice header level for both system-generated and manual invoices and work directly with the appropriate party when additional information is required and cccurately apply receipts against invoices for AIA or Payment Application projects (construction projects).
  • Periodically review credit balances to determine whether a refund is required, a payment application error occurred, or the credit balance should be recognised as revenue; then initiate the appropriate action.
  • Research, consolidate and correct any misapplied funds identified during the daily routine activities fully abiding by the policies and procedures as set by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Complete research requests related to potential misapplied payments or payment inquiries within a 48-hour turnaround time, maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation.
  • Research and process any refunds that are validated during the daily routine activities fully abiding by the policies and procedures as set by Accounts Receivable Manager. 

 

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who:

 

  • Has 2 – 4 years of finance/accounting experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and 2+ years of cash application processing experience.
  • Has knowledge of processing various banking transactions (ACH, wire, credit card, virtual card, lockbox—both full-service and deposit-only), knowledge of SAP or Microsoft Dynamics AX is advantage.
  • Is detail-oriented, with the ability to review data to identify variances, trends, and errors, has ability to follow instructions and procedural guidelines and has strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Provides a high level of customer service, must possess excellent mathematical skills and is coachable, reliable, and must display a positive attitude during stressful situations. 
  • Thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment that offers continuous learning of software applications and operational improvement  and has strong interpersonal and communication skills; speaks and writes in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct professional manner and is flexible to work extra hours as needed to ensure all billing deadlines are met.
