Maintenance Technician

Overview of Position: Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.
I. Description of Duties/Responsibilities/Requirements:
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
• Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

II. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Requires education generally equivalent to an associate’s degree.
• Requires 3-5 years of experience.
• Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experiences in electrical and mechanical is required
• Requires the ability to function as a team member and contribute to group goals.
• Requires the ability to use a variety of office equipment such as spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, telephone, facsimile machine, photocopier, and a computer printer.
III. Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The phrases “occasionally,” “regularly,” and “frequently” correspond to the following definitions: “occasionally” means up to 1/3 of working time, “regularly” means between 1/3 and 2/3 of working time, and “frequently” means 2/3 and more of working time.
Skills/Knowledge Technical: Ability to read and follow written instructions and procedures with close supervision Knowledge of various manual/air/electrical operated tools and jigs including wrenches, crimp tools, soldering irons, wave solder machines, surface mount technology machines, wire wrap tools and strippers, solder pots, spray degreasers or cleaning units.
Skills/Knowledge Non-Technical: Sitting and/or standing at work station usually for most of work day; may sometimes perform repetitive action tasks. Works with materials including solder (lead), flux, cleaning fluids (eg. isopropyl alcohol), compressed air, conformal coating and paint materials.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls and talk and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and/or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while performing duties such as moving files or records. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must occasionally wear hardhat and safety glasses while working in manufacturing areas.
