What would you do as our AutoCAD Technician?

You will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements through various forms, creating detailed manufacturing drawings using templates and AutoCAD-based systems, engineering guidelines, and sketches according to manufacturing requirements.

 

Position Summary

The AutoCAD Technician is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining detailed shop drawings, door schedules, frame details, and hardware layouts for commercial door opening solutions. This role supports project managers, estimators and manufacturing teams by producing accurate technical drawings and documentation that meet project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify detailed AutoCAD drawings for doors, frames, hardware, and architectural opening systems.
  • Develop shop drawings, elevations, sections, details, and installation layouts based on project specifications.
  • Review architectural plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure drawing accuracy and code compliance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators and sales teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create door and hardware schedules, material take-offs, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Incorporate customer revisions and field changes into project drawings.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and application requirements before project release.
  • Maintain drawing files and documentation within company document management systems.
  • Support manufacturing and operations teams with technical drawing clarification and project troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, building codes and industry best practices.

 

The Skills and Experience you need:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience, preferably in construction, architectural products, commercial doors and hardware, or building products.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with SolidWorks a plus.
  • Previous experience reading blueprints, shop drawings or engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial doors, frames, hardware, access control systems, or building products.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or project-based environment.

 

 

Compensation range $65-70k depending on experience
