Software Engineer

Summary
A developer role, working in a Biometrics dedicated software team.
You are expected to be hands on and spend a significant amount of your time writing code and implementing features/stories defined by the Product Owner.
As a contributor within the Biometrics team, you’ll be a team member charged with implementing features in a timely fashion seamlessly with the overall solution offered to our customers.
This role will mainly be working on real time operating system devices in the Biometric portfolio. These are embedded systems which are embedded device running FreeRTOS or Zephyr
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Design and Implementation of embedded device using a real time operating system
- Design and Implementation of embedded firmware and test solutions primarily in C and C#
- Design and implementation of cryptographic solutions.
- Creation of design documentation.
- Practical hands-on experience working with and debugging embedded systems.
- Working in a team environment.
- They require little oversight beyond high level direction and can take a complex scenario, breaking it down into sub-tasks, and completing sub-tasks with relative ease.
- Communicates technical decisions through design docs and white papers.
- Communicates effectively with cross functions, can work well with Product, Design, Analytics, etc, as necessary.
- Proactively identifies problems with requirements (lack of clarity, inconsistencies, technical limitations) and communicates these issues early to help course-correct.
Required Education and Knowledge / Experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent or suitable experience.
- Able to understand, maintain and create designs for mid-size projects.
- Can provide solutions to complex issues.
- Fluent with Zephyr and/or FreeRTOS
- Fluent in product embedded programming C & C#
Work Environment
- This is a hybrid opportunity based in Cardiff, our current hybrid working model allows 2 remote days per week
- Available for occasional international travel.
