The Product Manager - Biometrics will be focused on physical access control (PACS) and the biometrics product portfolio, this role will take on existing products / solutions as well as being part of defining new requirements.


The qualified candiate will also play in important role in building up new team(s) in order to help HID PACS grow in the area of biometrics, it’s an exciting opportunity to be part of something new

You will represents business priorities, as set by PACS Product Management (represented by Solution Managers), into relevant Product Owners and teams (typically 1-2 PO’s and 2-4 teams).


The Product Manager is accountable for the Product Vision and PI roadmap of assigned Product(s), most products are part of multi-product Solutions, which requires close collaboration with other Product Managers, Solution Managers and Architects.

The candidate  should understand the relevant Solution Context, and manages a well-groomed and prioritized Feature and Enabler Feature backlog.


The Product Manager is a specialist on complex technical matters, demonstrating creativity and ingenuity and serves as the leader for the workgroup through knowledge in higher area of specialization, he/she is generally free to determine work priorities based on general direction from management.

As our Product Manager - Biometrics , you’ll support HID’s success by: 


Meet Business Goals:

  • The Product Manager maintains and updates the product roadmap in response to changing portfolio demands. For example, the Product Manager is responsible for managing changes to the product vision and roadmap based on the portfolio’s strategic themes and solution visions.
  • The Product Manager is also responsible for maintaining alignment with the portfolio canvas, lean budgets and guardrails.

  • Understand the customer needs – As the internal representative of the customer the PM need to understand customer and market needs and communicate those needs to the ARTs.
  • Develop and communicate the product vision and roadmap – The Product Manager continuously develops and communicates the vision. Collaborating with Architects, the Product Manager also defines and maintains the nonfunctional requirements to ensure relevant standards, certifications and quality requirements are satisfied.
  • Manage and prioritize the flow of work – The Product Manager supports the flow of work through the Kanban and into the backlog, responsible for ensuring enough Features are ready in the backlog at all times. He/she also needs to ensure the backlog is prioritized before each PI planning session.
  • Participate in PI planning – During each PI planning the Product Manager presents the vision along with roadmap and upcoming milestones. The PM reviews and approves PI objectives as well as the overall plans (together with Solution Managers).

  • The Product Manager should strive to deliver value as frequently as possible.
  • The scope of the assigned Product(s) (e.g. internal vs external customer) impacts what deliveries the PM is accountable for in order to enable delivery , artefacts like release notes, technical documentation, trainings etc are examples where the PM is directly or indirectly accountable.



What we will love about your background: 


  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with current operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams or other web-based communications software beneficial.
  • Experience with Jira and Miro is beneficial, but not required.


Your Qualifications and Experience include: 


  • Bachelor's degree (Master is beneficial but not required) in engineering, computer science or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years work experience and 5+ years’ experience in product development. Work experience as a Product Manager or similar role in Product Management.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of a broad range of biometric technology and market applications is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge in facial recognition, video and associated algorithms is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of standards and legal aspects around biometric technology and the application thereof is highly desired.
  • Artificial Intelligence experience in the biometric field is a benefit.
  • Knowledge of physical access control and the physical security industry is a benefit.
  • Knowledge of contactless RFID credentials, readers and door controller products is a benefit.
  • Experience with agile development and lean innovation practices is a benefit.
  • Training in SAFe such as Implementing SAFe and / or SAFe POPM is a benefit.
  • This is a Product Manager level 4 position within PACS Product Management.
