Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands…
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Trade Compliance & Data Analyst to join our Hospitality PMO team. This role is responsible for reviewing and validating the accuracy of import HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classifications and Country of Origin (CoO) determinations across our global supply chain. The ideal candidate will also drive data-driven insights and compliance reporting to support risk management and duty recovery efforts.
As the Trade Compliance and Data Analyst for the Global solutions division of ASSA ABLOY, you will play a critical role in ensuring customs compliance while supporting cost efficiency through accurate duty payments. The role reports directly to the VP and Head of PMO – Hospitality and collaborates closely with Procurement, Legal, Logistics, and external customs advisors.
What you will do…
- Review and classify imported goods using proper HTS codes in accordance with U.S. and international customs regulations.
- Validate Country of Origin (CoO) based on substantial transformation and other relevant customs criteria.
- Analyse large datasets related to imports, tariffs, and vendor activity to identify cost-saving opportunities and compliance risks.
- Maintain accurate classification records, audit trails, and documentation to support Customs inquiries.
- Work closely with external customs brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and compliant customs entry processes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track classification accuracy, import trends, and duty exposure.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for classification and origin validation processes.
- Support other business within ASSA ABLOY with new product HTS and CoO assignment.
- Support internal training efforts and documentation related to trade compliance awareness.
- Assist with establishment of duty drawback programs across business areas.
What we expect of you…
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs classification, or import/export operations.
- Strong working knowledge of HTS classification rules, GRIs, and Country of Origin regulations.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query) and at least one data visualization tool (e.g., Power BI).
- Proficient in ERP and trade compliance systems such as SAP, Oracle, and AX, with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity when managing sensitive trade data.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities, complemented by advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Proactive and adaptable to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail and a strong focus on data accuracy.
Preferred:
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Classification Specialist (CCS) certification.
- Experience working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and managing prior disclosures or duty drawback claims.
- Product knowledge of hospitality or retail industry is a plus.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
