SHEC Coordinator

We are seeking a handson SHEC Coordinator to support Safety, Health, Environment and Compliance activities, based at Bangholme, Victoria. This role suits someone organised, practical, and comfortable working closely with technicians and leaders in a fieldbased environment.

 

Reporting to the National SHEC Manager, you will provide daytoday support across safety, compliance, audits, documentation, and injury management, helping ensure teams work safely and meet regulatory and client requirements. Your initial key priority will be to review and enhance a reliable compliance framework and ensure systems operate smoothly and efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide daily administrative and coordination support across SHEC activities
  • Maintain action registers and follow up corrective actions
  • Support inspections, site checks, and internal audits
  • Assist with WHS documentation including procedures, SWMS, JSAs, risk assessments, and registers
  • Support HSRs and safety committees with meetings, minutes, and action tracking
  • Prepare toolbox talks, safety alerts, and other safety communications
  • Maintain SHEC records including incident, risk, training, and equipment registers
  • Assist with SHEC reporting, data collation, and basic trend analysis
  • Deliver short, practical toolbox training on common fieldbased hazards
  • Provide administrative support for injury management and returntowork processes
  • Support compliance requirements related to automatic doors, electrical safety awareness, building and plant/equipment safety
  • Coordinate the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) process
  • Manage contractor and client compliance portals, including licences, insurances, and inductions
  • Assist with compliance and quality auditing programs
  • Conduct spot checks of licences, training, and calibration records
  • Support sites in audit preparation and corrective action closeout

 

About You

 

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (completed or working toward)
  • 3 years plus experience in a similar role (blue collar environment preferred)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Exposure to fieldbased WHS risks
  • ReturntoWork coordination experience desirable
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and digital compliance systems
  • A can do attitude with the ability to hit the ground running – thinking outside the box!
