Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Software Manager to lead multiple engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining enterprise-grade backend platforms and cloud-native applications using Microsoft .NET technologies.
This role combines strong technical leadership with people management responsibilities, including coaching, performance management, talent development, delivery ownership, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in .NET backend development, experience managing distributed teams, and a proven track record of delivering scalable software products in a global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage multiple engineering teams comprising approximately 10+ software engineers, senior engineers, and technical leads.
- Drive end-to-end product delivery, ensuring high quality, predictable execution, and alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Oversee planning, estimation, execution, and release activities across multiple product streams.
- Ensure adoption of Agile development practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive engineering excellence through metrics, quality standards, automation, and operational best practices.
People Management
- Provide direct people leadership, coaching, mentoring, and career development for team members.
- Conduct performance reviews, goal setting, succession planning, and talent development activities.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and retention initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Support technical growth of engineers through mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and development plans.
- Manage employee engagement and address team challenges proactively.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction and guidance for backend platforms built on Microsoft .NET technologies.
- Drive architecture discussions and technical decision-making in collaboration with architects and senior engineers.
- Ensure scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing software solutions.
- Review system designs, technical specifications, and implementation approaches.
- Promote engineering best practices including SOLID principles, clean architecture, code quality, and secure coding standards.
- Guide teams in modernizing legacy applications and adopting cloud-native architectural patterns.
Platform & Technology Ownership
- Drive adoption of microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
- Ensure implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to improve reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.
- Support production operations, issue resolution, and continuous platform improvement.
Stakeholder Management & Global Collaboration
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for business and product stakeholders.
- Communicate delivery plans, risks, dependencies, and technical decisions effectively.
- Work closely with global and cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time zones.
- Align engineering initiatives with strategic business goals and product roadmaps.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between local and international teams.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on background in C#, .NET (preferably .NET 8/9/10), ASP.NET Core, and Web APIs.
- Deep expertise in backend system design, distributed systems, microservices, and enterprise application development.
- Good understanding of frontend technologies such as Angular or modern web frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience with ORM tools like Entity framework , Dapper.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of security, authentication, authorization, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and API security.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and modern software engineering methodologies.
- Proven experience managing multiple product teams and concurrent delivery streams.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Qualifications
- BE / B.Tech / MCA or equivalent.
- 12-18 years of overall software development experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of people management experience leading software engineering teams.
- Experience managing teams of approximately 10 or more engineers.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale software products.
- Experience working with international stakeholders and globally distributed engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and growing engineering talent.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical excellence and delivery commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS, enterprise platforms, cloud-native applications, or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams across multiple regions.
- Exposure to architecture governance, modernization programs, and platform transformation initiatives.
- Certifications in Azure, Agile, Scrum, or related technologies are a plus.
