As our SENIOR MANAGER / DIRECTOR QUALITY you’ll support HID’s success by:
Summary
We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Senio Quality Manager to lead the Quality function for our high-volume, high-mix RFID manufacturing operations in Johor, Malaysia, encompassing two production plants. Reporting directly to the Site Managing Director / VP of Operations, this role will oversee a quality team and will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all quality activities across the site. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands that quality is built on the production floor, yet possesses the vision and expertise to drive a long-term strategic roadmap for Quality Excellence. This includes shaping the site's quality systems, supplier quality development programs, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies. The successful candidate will bring a proactive, collaborative approach to building a culture of quality and operational excellence throughout the supply chain and production floor.
Duties and Responsibilities
“Quality & Continuous Improvement” Strategy
- Strategic Alignment: Define and deploy QA objectives and KPIs aligned with corporate policies, cultivating a robust continuous improvement culture across both plants.
- Core Methodologies: Champion Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred), 8D, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to elevate technical knowledge and standardize SOPs across business units.
- Supply Chain & NPI: Drive proactive supplier quality development programs and embed Quality protocols early into the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for flawless launches.
- Customer Voice & COPQ: Optimize customer complaint handling with heavy emphasis on root cause analysis and recurrence prevention to drastically lower the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Compliance & Sustainability: Support technical teams with rigorous documentation validation while driving compliance with ISO standards, sustainability, and CSR commitments.
Organization, KPI & Reporting
- Culture & Governance: Establish a strong quality culture by embedding departmental champions across both plants, leading monthly site quality reviews and cross-functional forums.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify technical/compliance risks to protect production schedules and own the Site Issue Management Escalation Process.
- Analytics & Executive Reporting: Compile, analyze, and present high-level site quality metrics (COPQ, supplier issues, customer complaints) to site leadership and external stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Coach, guide, and support plant quality teams in developing SMART improvement actions, fostering deep ownership and clear accountability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quality, Operations, Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt highly desirable).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of management experience in roles covering Quality, Process Excellence, Manufacturing Engineering, or Operations within a multinational organization, preferably in a high-mix, high-volume environment.
- Leadership & Influence: Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing diverse, cross-functional teams, with a track record of driving quality initiatives from concept to tactical execution.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Total Quality Management (TQM), and core quality tools such as 8D, Fishbone diagrams, Control Plans, SPC, and FMEA.
- Problem Solving & Agility: Advanced data-driven and analytical problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to make independent business decisions and navigate complexity or ambiguity in a fast-paced setting.
- Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with the ability to advocate firmly for customer expectations while successfully balancing internal manufacturing and business priorities.
- Industry Mindset: Extensive experience leading Quality Assurance within a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for backgrounds in automotive quality systems.
Language and Communication Skills
- English Proficiency: Strong proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Must be capable of preparing and delivering clear, well-structured reports and presentations to executive leadership, suppliers, and customers.
- Multilingual Capability: Mandarin language skills are highly beneficial to effectively support local and cross-border communication loops.
- Stakeholder Management: Skilled in communicating effectively at all organizational levels, with the ability to diplomatically manage challenging situations involving external and internal partners
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experienced with tools such as Microsoft Visio and Project.
- Familiar with Windows operating systems and general IT environments.
- Knowledge of databases and business intelligence (BI) tools is a plus.
- Experience with Oracle and PLM systems is advantageous.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Compliance with all relevant corporate policies related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
- Primarily an office and manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise levels.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Malaysia, with the ability to undertake international travel as required.
