As our DESIGN ENGINEER you’ll support HID’s success by:
Summary
As member of the Product Engineering team, you are responsible for developing and supporting RFID products from concept through industrialization. The role is a combination of product/design engineering and on-chip programming/software, requiring a strong electronics/RF background together with practical experience in RFID IC configuration and programming.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design and develop RFID antennas, tags, cards and transponder products
- Perform RF/electrical simulations, measurements, troubleshooting and product optimization
- Develop test fixtures and support product validation and qualification.
- Select and evaluate RFID ICs according to product and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain on-chip programming profiles for RFID credentials and transponder products
- Configure, program and verify RFID IC memory and device parameters
- Develop programming sequences and tools required for chip configuration and product personalization
- Support implementation and validation of chip-programming profiles in manufacturing
- Troubleshoot IC programming, configuration and hardware/software integration issues
- Support Manufacturing Engineering and Production during industrialization and volume production
- Perform technical reviews, risk assessments and root-cause analysis
- Prepare BOMs, technical specifications, test procedures and product documentation
- Research and evaluate new RFID ICs, technologies and programming solutions
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, RF, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in electronic product development; RFID experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of RFID antennas, RF principles and integrated circuit technologies
- Hands-on experience with RFID IC programming, configuration and verification
- Understanding of chip memory organization, configuration parameters and programming sequences
- Experience developing or maintaining on-chip programming profiles
- Knowledge of communication and programming interfaces such as JTAG, SWD, UART, SPI and I2C
- Programming knowledge in C/C++, C#/.NET or similar languages for chip-programming and engineering tools
- Knowledge of RFID standards such as ISO/IEC 14443, ISO/IEC 15693 and ISO/IEC 7816 is an advantage
- Knowledge of secure credential programming, cryptography or key management is an advantage
- Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as CST, HFSS or ADS is beneficial
