As our BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST you’ll support HID’s success by: 

 

Summary

 

The Business Development Support Specialist provides operational, commercial, and technical support to the Lux Group Business Development organization. The role supports the BD Director in managing the prelaminates portfolio for both external and intra‑group customers, ensuring accurate coordination and consistent communication across teams, sites, and business units.

Based at the HID Kulai production site, the role ensures efficient coordination between Malaysia, Granges, and Lanškroun, facilitating strong communication with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Quality. The position strengthens customer engagement, ensures documentation and cost accuracy, contributes to cost‑down initiatives, and reinforces cross‑functional alignment

In addition to commercial and technical coordination, the role holds an essential responsibility for cost accuracy and cost‑down support across the Lux Group product portfolio. Starting with prelaminates, the BD Support Specialist ensures correct cost inputs, validates BOM data, monitors cost‑impacting changes, and collaborates closely with Operations, ME, Procurement and Finance to identify and drive cost‑reduction opportunities. This contributes to improved product competitiveness, margin discipline, and reliable cost information for internal decisions and customer quotations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities.

Commercial & Customer Support

  • Assist in managing the full customer lifecycle for prelaminates, including inquiries, quotations, other customer documentations, sample requests, and project follow‑up
  • Support external customers with timely and accurate product information, lead times, pricing, certifications and technical documentation
  • Coordinate with intra‑group customers (Placard, PACS, Assa Abloy, etc.) on planning, forecasts, documentation, changes and custom developments
  • Track the status of commercial projects and provide regular updates (weekly/monthly reporting)

 

 

Project & Development Support

  • Review incoming project requests and gather clarifications; consolidate technical + commercial inputs for the BD Director
  • Support development activities for strategic projects, including new materials, new processes, new machines, and customer‑specific requirements
  • Track development milestones, customer validation steps, and coordinate internal sample production, shipment and follow-up. Proactively escalate risks or delays
  • Support the creation and update of datasheets, product specification and any others technical references for prelaminated
  • Provide cost‑impact assessments for project requests, helping guide decisions related to materials, processes, and product configuration
  • Support potential expansion to new internal customers and/or APAC region for ext. and/or Int. Customers (example: Placard)

 

Internal Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between Lanškroun and Malaysia operations as well as Granges teams for topics related to ERP, product configuration, production constraints, and data alignment ensuring good visibility on joint developments or shared accounts
  • Ensure smooth communication with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Management and Manufacturing teams for developments or customer-specific configurations
  • Follow up internally to ensure projects progress according to schedule, escalating risks when needed

 

Operational Excellence, Cost Governance and Competitiveness

  • Support claim handling by collecting technical information, interacting with Quality, and helping document conclusions
  • Ensure adherence to HID Global Quality, Security, Safety and Environmental procedures
  • Actively contribute to cost‑down initiatives across the portfolio (materials optimization, process simplification, yield improvement, scrap reduction, supplier alternatives)
  • Perform regular reviews of prelaminate cost structures as well as support the team on overheads reviews, supporting drive down of overheads on Lux Group products

 

Data, Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain up‑to‑date records in ERP, Agile and tracking tools
  • Create or update product documents (datasheets, technical overviews, comparison tables) for customers and internal teams
  • Prepare forecasts, dashboards, and budget follow-up reports as required
  • Maintain accurate cost and pricing documentation; support cost‑tracking dashboards and provide updates for cost‑down progress

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Education and/or experience
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, or related field (equivalent experience accepted)
  • Experience in customer support, technical sales, project coordination, or product administration (preferably in smart cards, RFID, electronics or similar environment)
  • Familiarity with smart card components, RFID modules, prelaminates, or production processes is an advantage

 

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, international technical standards, etc

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Familiar with ERP systems and CRM tools
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and managing structured data

  • Highly organized, structured, detail-oriented and reliable
  • Proactive, autonomous, ability to work with partial information and follow up proactively

Work Requirements

 

  • Based in the HID factory in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia
  • Must be legally authorized to work and travel internationally if required
  • Occasional travel (up to 10–20%) to support meetings, trainings or customer interactions
