HID’s Operations & Business Excellence, PMO Department: 

This role sits within the Operations & Business Excellence, Program Management Office at HID Global.  In this role, you will be an instrumental team member responsible for supporting custom order management software applications. These custom solutions bridge business systems to increase utility for our users; enabling them to meet customer expectation and attain internal performance targets with increased efficiency and efficacy. 


As our Software Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Building and supporting in-house developed applications to assist in order scheduling, lead time calculation, trade-related master data management, and freight-related data portal support.
  • Using your problem-solving skills to address bugs and new issues revealed from an ever-changing global supply chain and external data source variability.
  • Developing or adapting novel methods to enhance existing code bases, validating those changes, and rolling out globally.
  • Supporting the development and optimization of existing application infrastructure and, delivering trusted software based on sound source code governance principles
  • Communicating frequently with IT, Production Planners/Schedulers, Data Scientists, and Engineers.

  • Experience in an Agile software development life cycle management team to deliver incremental solutions in a sprint/scrum fashion to achieve fast response times and user benefit
  • Ability to support global operation staff with timely responses concerning application, system, and backlog data integrity
  • Proficiency in software engineering with a user experience focus, working closely with technical and non-technical employees to define requirements for new applications and enhancements to existing legacy applications.
  • Empathetic to internal/external client’s needs and flexibility to help shape a client’s request for application services, not yet entirely known.
  • Familiarity with decomposing, refactoring, and porting legacy applications into approved/standardized frameworks or enterprise systems
  • Must be able to work hybrid schedule in Austin, TX


Your Experience and Education include:             

  • Proficiency in software development utilizing .NET framework, VB, Office Add-In’s, VBA, and Git/Bitbucket/Mercurial source control
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS/EBS, MS SQL Server Administration, OAC, Agile PLM, Data Warehouses, SSMS (incl Stored Procedure development), PowerShell, C#, and Python, and Jira project management.
  • Co-Administering Application (Windows) and SQL servers, including user accounts, licensing, and governance to protect operations’ data
  • Administering automation and task scheduling to ensure data intake via materialized views, ftp, and reporting
  • B.S/M.S. in relevant computer sciences, engineering, or a related field. Candidates with equivalent education plus relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • 2+ years of relevant enterprise software development experience
  • Travel and hands-on client engagement may be required, including international travel. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire a valid passport.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to quickly learn existing code bases and dive deep into tactical work to scale and improve applications, as needed
