HID’s IT Infrastructure Team:

The Senior Windows Virtual Infrastructure Engineer must be able to demonstrate expert-level expertise in deploying, administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission-critical Windows servers, SAN appliances, and the VMware ecosystem from the ground up. The position is based in Austin, Texas, and a contributing member of the Global IT Infrastructure team.

 

The Windows VI position will work collaboratively with software engineering and security to manage and maintain our systems. Help automate and streamline our operations and processes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments. Be responsible for capacity management and planning. Work on complex, major, or highly visible tasks in support of multiple projects that require multiple areas of expertise. Produce and maintain clear documentation illustrating the up-to-date configuration and easy-to-follow procedures.

As our Sr Windows Virtual Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

 

  • Managing and maintain High Availability Datacenter Infrastructure – Physical & Virtual Servers, Virtual Desktops, and SAN Storage as per best practices.
  • Quickly troubleshooting to isolate and solve problems and adhere to best practices.
  • Providing L3 & L4 support. Be aware and react to down alerts and warnings coming in from our monitoring system, communicate and investigate in a timely fashion – escalate when necessary.
  • Performing occasional after-hours work and/or on weekends as needed to support business needs; attend and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Coordinating and performing system changes with strict adherence to our Change Control policy.
  • Ensuring tickets are created, assigned, and updated appropriately with accurate time entries and resolution details of impending changes and/or agreed outages.
  • Performing installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows Servers of various roles (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, File and Print Services).
  • Creating and maintaining documentation including inventory information and network diagrams.
  • Working with 3rd party vendors to perform installation, configuration, patching and support for their respective software.
  • Assisting in the creation of BOMs (Bill of Materials), obtaining quotes from vendors where necessary – for the purpose of solution costing for new implementations. Effectively communicate step-by-step instructions with non-technical personnel acting as remote hands to install and maintain infrastructure.
  • Evaluating existing systems for potential problems/improvements.
  • Ability to quickly learn and appropriately utilize internal applications and knowledge bases as needed for timely completion of daily tasks.
  • Managing multiple concurrent tasks and function within a fast-paced setting.

 

Your Experience and Education include:          

   

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, management, and support.
  • VMware VCA-VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of VMware components – VCSA, ESXi, VDS, Large Scale Clusters, HA, DRS, Distributed Switches, vCenter Enhanced linked mode, Update Manager, PowerCLI
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Domain services.
  • Experience with or solid understanding of TCP/IP networking – VLANs, Routing, DHCP, DNS
  • Work in concert with a team or independently to manage project milestones and deliverables, with or without direct supervision/guidance as needed.
  • KPI driven, proactive, and motivated for continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth.
  • Experience in tools like SharePoint, Teams, ServiceNow, Jira, SAFe, Confluence, Adaxes, LogicMonitor, InfoBlox, Thycotic, SNOW, Splunk
  • Hands on Server & Storage Experience: Cisco UCS/Dell/HPE – Rack Servers, Blade Systems, Cisco UCS/Dell/HPERack Servers, Blade Systems, SAN Storage – Dell Storage, Nimble, ISCSI Networking and Configuration
