The Packaging Engineer will focus on optimizing product packaging with consideration for inbound logistics and material costs, regulatory requirements and environmental impact. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, industry awareness, and strategic business acumen to drive development and implementation of innovative packaging solutions.

As our Package Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 
•    Coordinating development and implementation of packaging solutions with consideration for inbound logistics and material cost, regulatory requirements and environmental impact.
•    Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, sourcing supply chain, procurement, and logistics, to integrate cost effective and sustainable practices into packaging design and logistics strategies.
•    Supporting Strategic Sourcing and Business Area efforts to create / issue solution RFQs 
•    Utilizing data analysis, packaging audits and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement in packaging design and materials, balance impact & effort
•    Coordinating with warehouse and transportation teams to ensure packaging solutions are practical and effective for handling and storage.
•    Conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of packaging materials and processes.
•    Partnering with Business Unit engineers to develop and implement testing protocols to ensure packaging meets quality, sustainability, and logistics standards.
•    Staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to sustainable packaging and logistics; provide training to internal teams on optimized practices
 

Your Experience and Background include:  
•    Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in packaging engineering
•    Certification in sustainable packaging or packaging engineering
•    Strong knowledge of sustainable materials, packaging design, environmental regulations, and logistics processes.
•    Experience with life cycle assessment (LCA) tools and methodologies.
•    Possesses a working knowledge of CAPE and/or TOPS software
•    Knowledge and understanding of package testing methodologies, such as ISTA and ASTM
•    Experience with data analysis and modeling tools.
