The Business Development Manager (BDM), Life Sciences is a customer-facing individual contributor role responsible for driving growth across the Life Sciences vertical in North America. This role focuses on direct engagement with end-user customers in highly regulated environments to uncover opportunities, build trusted relationships, and accelerate adoption of HID’s Physical Access Control Solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong consultative selling experience, deep knowledge of access control or security technologies, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. This role plays a critical part in expanding HID’s presence within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, and research environments

As our End User Business Development Manager, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities within the Life Sciences vertical across North America.
  • Engaging directly with end-user customers to understand security, compliance, and operational needs in regulated environments.
  • Positioning HID’s physical access control solutions as strategic, value-driven investments aligned to customer business objectives.
  • Managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing, including forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Representing HID with professionalism, integrity, and compliance in all customer and partner interactions. 
  • Conducting market research to identify trends, opportunities, and targeting accounts within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and research facilities. Drive expansion into new regions and growth segments across North America.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with security, IT, facilities, and operational leaders. Serving as a trusted advisor by aligning HID solutions to customer challenges and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and executing effective sales strategies to achieve or exceeding revenue targets. Creating compelling, customer-specific value propositions and manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Maintaining deep knowledge of HID Physical Access Control Solutions, including credentials, readers, controllers, mobile access, and biometric technologies. Staying current on industry trends and HID’s PACS roadmap.
  • Partnering with product management, engineering, marketing, channel, and customer support teams to ensure alignment, solution success, and customer satisfaction
  • Delivering product demonstrations, training, and best-practice guidance. Representing HID at trade shows, industry events, and customer forums.
  • Monitoring pipeline health, account activity, and sales performance metrics. Providing feedback to leadership on market dynamics, competitive activity, and customer needs.
  • Ensuring all sales activities comply with applicable regulations, customer requirements, and company policies, maintaining the highest ethical standards.

 

 

Your Experience and Background include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within physical access control, electronic security, or related technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience selling directly to end-user customers within Life Sciences or other highly regulated environments.
  • Proven success managing complex, consultative sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers, including executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong technical understanding of Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS) and authentication technologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong business acumen, organizational discipline, and ability to work independently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within North America. Experience working with the consultant community and understanding security system specification tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with HID Global’s sales ecosystem, channel strategy, and PACS portfolio.

The wage range for this role considers a broad scope of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range does not account for geographic differentials based on the location where the position may be filled. At HID, it is uncommon for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range. Final compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each case.

 

The base salary in the United States is $90,000 to $132,000. The OTE is up to $200,000.
