Responsible for assembling, testing, and completing ID card printer systems and subassemblies in a production environment. This role requires strong emphasis on Product Quality, defect detection and compliance to specifications, as well as, attention to detail, the ability to follow standardized work instructions, and a focus on quality and throughput. The Assembler III serves as a subject matter expert for product quality and assembly processes, performing advanced validation, auditing, and troubleshooting while supporting defect prevention and continuous improvement efforts.

As our Assembler III you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Performing electro-mechanical assembly of ID card printers and subassemblies following detailed work instructions, bills of material (BOM), and production travelers.
- Validating critical-to-quality (CTQ) features, including print quality, mechanical alignment, electrical functionality, and configuration accuracy.
- Verifying conformance to engineering specifications, quality standards, and traveler requirements through in-process inspections.
- Assembling mechanical and electrical components including frames, harnesses, motors, print mechanisms, and related hardware using standard hand and power tools.
- Completing product builds with a high level of accuracy, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and configuration per specifications.
- Executing functional testing and performing detailed quality verification to ensure product performance meets all specifications.
- Recording production and quality data accurately, including defects, audit findings, test results, and yield tracking.
- Identifying and escalating quality or material issues with a focus on defect prevention and first-pass yield improvement.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workstation in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Collaborating with team members, leads, and support functions (quality, engineering, materials) to meet daily production targets.
- Providing feedback to engineering and production teams to prevent reoccurrence of defects.
- Supporting rework, repair, and process improvement activities as needed.
- Serving as a technical resource to other assemblers, providing guidance on assembly processes, quality expectations, and troubleshooting.
- Supporting root cause analysis activities and helping implement corrective actions to reduce recurring defects.
- Assisting in training new employees and reinforcing standard work and quality expectations.
Your Experience and Background include:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3-5 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience preferred
- Experience in high-mix / low to medium volume assembly environments preferred
- Ability to follow work instructions and production travelers
- Familiarity with BOM’s and configuration-driven assembly
- Experience with basic testing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and quality-first mindset
- Comfortable with repetitive builds and product variation
- Experience with quality inspection, auditing, or product validation
- Knowledge of AQL sampling plans, defect classification, and quality standards is preferred
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality criteria
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis
- Familiarity with quality tools (inspection checklists, defect tracking systems, MES/ERP systems preferred)
