About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. This four-year apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in mechanical engineering and maintenance while earning a New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4). Reporting to the Maintenance Team Lead, you will work alongside skilled professionals, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Maintenance – Assist in keeping our diecast machines, injection moulding equipment, and powder coating lines in optimal condition to prevent disruptions to production.
  • Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) – Proactively address potential equipment issues to avoid breakdowns and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting – Use a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all maintenance tasks performed accurately.
  • Attend required block courses at a partnered tertiary institute.
  • Gain expertise in interpreting technical drawings and specifications to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Develop proficiency in engineering principles and practices, including the use of hand tools, measuring equipment, and safety standards.
  • Understand and apply health and safety regulations in a workplace setting.

 

About You

  • Minimum of 40 credits at NCEA Level 1, with at least 10 credits in literacy and 10 in numeracy (or equivalent).
  • Basic mechanical skills, prior experience using hand tools, and an interest in engineering processes are preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively within the team and contribute to a collaborative, positive workplace.
  • Motivated to develop skills in troubleshooting and to apply technical knowledge effectively in a real-world setting.
  • Eager to learn, stay updated on industry standards, and expand your abilities in mechanical engineering.
