What you would do as our Technical Support CAD/CAM Engineer

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring all technical drawings are aligned with approved designs, meet agreed production specifications and are fully document controlled in line with the company’s quality control procedures. The applicant will develop an in depth understanding of the company’s range of products, ensuring all associated technical drawings are consistent, accurately maintained and kept up to date. 

 

You would also:

  • Report to the Group Technical Manager and produce accurate drawings and documents through all stages of the design, development and production issue process, aid in the concept and design stages and produce detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software to meet agreed specifications.
  • Generate part drawings and CNC programs to enable the manufacture of sheet metal components to meet customer requirements. Assist shop floor operatives with  programming of CNC operated machinery, bending operations, etc.
  • Produce 2D approval drawings to meet customer and end user requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work created to support document quality control procedures. Record, report and resolve internal NCR issues.
  • Participate in company internal design and production meetings to effectively present CAD and CAM work, from concept pitch through to development and issue of works documentation. Maintain accurate timesheets and records of projects.

 

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a proficient user of AutoCAD software and experience with SolidWorks 3D modelling software an advantage and CAD/CAM programming experience with ability to convert drawings to CNC programs for manufacture.
  • Has sheet metal and fabrication/welding experience.
  • Has minimum BTEC National qualification in engineering or design.
  • Has IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office.
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills and is a reliable team player and self-motivated individual with a ‘can do’ approach who takes pride in their work.
