Position Overview / Summary

As a Member of the local leadership team, The Director of Finance is responsible for leading all aspects of the finance and accounting function for FlexiForce North America.  The role ensures adherence to the policies and practices defined in the ASSA ABLOY Reporting Manual, GAAP and provides reliable, in depth financial planning and analysis support to the management team.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Finance will be accountable for:

  • Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of the Finance department
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures in alignment with corporate values and guidelines
  • Manage financial and cash strategies
  • Lead the capital request and budgeting processes for the business units
  • Lead the issuance of financial information in the correct format and on time
  • Review monthly financial information prepared by Controller, prepare variance analysis to budget (prior year and forecasts) and preparation of monthly reports for the Leadership team.
  • Manage, lead and motivate key accounting personnel who support this position
  • Review and approve all statutory filings for timely submission
  • Monitor all open legal and compliance issues involving the business units
  • Review financial internal controls and implementing those required for the company
  • Ensure business unit's compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
  • Actively participate as a member of the Leadership team
  • Be a culture champion and lead by example to encourage a culture of collaboration, team work and accountability

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Active CPA license/designation is preferred
  • Experience as a Leader at the Director level is preferred
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring an administrative finance team
  • Experience with corporate banking, financial reporting, covenants and cash flow monitoring and reporting
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent proficiency with Excel and ERP software tools
  • Ability to identify and manage risk and bring issues to the Leadership table with solutions on how to mitigate cost and risk

Physical Demands

Role Requirements

Location: Abbotsford, BC

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

This role will be based in Abbotsford.  In-office presence will be required for this role 5 days a week.  Hybrid schedules are subject to approval and on an as required basis.  

Travel

Occasional travel including to international destinations will be required.
