As a Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in MySQL, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing MySQL and MySQL derivative databases, with a strong focus on cluster replication and Kubernetes-based deployments. Additionally, you will support Oracle databases in an on-premise environment.

 

Regular activities include administering high-availability MySQL clusters, ensuring data replication integrity, performance tuning, troubleshooting, collaborating with developers to enhance queries, and managing database security and migrations.

As our MySQL Database Administrator, you’ll support HID’s success by:

  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining MySQL database clusters both on-premises and cloud hosted.
  • Managing MySQL replication strategies, including GTID-based replication, semi-synchronous replication, and Percona/Galera Cluster setups.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting MySQL database performance using tools such as Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), Query Profiler, and slow query logs.
  • Automating database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Helm)
  • Ensuring database integrity, security, and compliance with company policies.
  • Implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for MySQL and Oracle databases.
  • Optimizing queries and indexing strategies for performance improvements.
  • Assisting in Oracle database administration as needed, including backups, migrations, and performance tuning.
  • Supporting data migrations and ETL workflows across multiple database environments.

 

 

Your Experience and Background include:  

  • Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience as an MySQL database administrator.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information systems, or related field. Candidates with equivalent education, plus relevant work experience, may also be considered.
  • Expertise in MySQL database administration, particularly in replication, clustering, and high availability.
  • Experience managing MySQL on Kubernetes, including Helm charts, Operators, and persistent storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL tuning, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted MySQL solutions (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database for MySQL).
  • Experience with Oracle databases, including installation, performance tuning, and user management.
  • Strong SQL and Linux administration skills.
  • Proficiency with automation and monitoring tools such as Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Oracle DBA certification is a plus.
