We are looking for a dynamic individual to join HID’s Identity and Access Management Services (IAMS) and be a part of our Cloud Operations team. Your primary objectives of the role are to manage, build, monitor and maintain our AWS cloud environments.

As our Cloud Operations Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

• Contributing and driving greater efficiency and optimization across our environments, by being an active and engaged member within your direct team as well as the larger engineering department
• Building, installing and configuring servers primary in virtual environments
• Automating manual tasks to improve deployment, reliability and performance
• Monitoring and optimizing systems performance and security by taking proactive measures to prevent issues and acting with a high sense of urgency to correct them
• Participate in the oncall rotation team, to support customer facing environments
• Advise the team on needed tactical as well as strategic operational improvements to drive operational excellence
• Documenting process, infrastructure topology and systems configurations
• Schedule and coordinate with internal teams maintenance activities
• Build and provide periodic status reports to internal staff regarding maintenance, process improvements, upgrade/update activities
• Acting as an escalation point for internal support staff to resolve active issues
• Actively participate in the Incident, Problem, Change and Project Management programs, deliver and document details within the agreed guidelines 

What we will love about your background: 

• Overall 6-8 years managing production platforms with an excellent understanding of different cloud hosting technologies
• Advanced knowledge for managing virtual machines in an AWS as well as a VMWare environments
• Establishing and maintaining server environments, including troubleshooting configuration and networking issues
• Methodical troubleshooting, advanced technical skills and attention to detail used in diagnosing problems, reproducing issues
• Willingness to take ownership of problems and seek solution
• Common sense, creativity and organizational skills to address challenging and complex challenges in an adaptive, high-tech environment
• Multi-tasking and time-management to prioritize and switch between varied tasks
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Motivation, curiosity, ambition, and the ability to hit the ground running
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

Your Experience and Education include:             

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree, candidates with equivalent education and relevant work experience may also be considered. 
• Good experience leveraging AWS products and solutions in multi tenant production environments
• Efficient and effective communication both with customers and within internal departments
• Broad based Microsoft Server operating system experience within medium to large enterprise software environments and client-server architectures
• Good Linux and scripting knowledge
• Docker and Kubernetes knowledge
• Advanced SQL DB experience including configuration, tuning and backups
